Nu-Art Memorial Co. was established in 1877 under the name of John H. Bott Co. John had 11 sons that he trained in the business. In 1936 his son Leroy moved the business from Brigham City, Utah to Salt Lake to take advantage of a franchise offer with a major granite company. Leroy sold his business to his son Leroy Jr. in 1962. Leroy Jr. then sold Nu Art to his son Douglas in 1996. Douglas is the current owner and is assisted by many other talented employees. We feel we have the most courteous and skilled employees in the nation. Assisting families since 1877 is a powerful recommendation to our level of skill and commitment to our customers.

This is the founding Bott family that spread out across Utah and became multiple different Monument companies.
Roy was the son who branched off and created Nu-Art Memorial.
After Roy started his company in Salt lake and turned it into something, he sold the company to his son Leroy Jr. or “Jay”. Jay really amped up the the business and created something special. He turned it into the premiere Monument company of Utah.
John was the original headstone guy that started it all. John left England with his family and came to America where his family had a hard time making their way. John’s mother wanted to go back to England but his dad had another idea and he sent 16 year old John with the saints to Salt Lake City where John became the errand boy for Brigham Young.  While working with granite and stone on the LDS Temple, Brigham Young told John to go to Brigham city and start a monument company. So He did!
Jay then sold the company to his son Douglas who continued it’s success and has since had 3 sons and 3 daughters. Almost the whole family works at Nu-Art along with extended family and very close friends. Doug passed in January 2015 and the company is now owned by his wife Linda Bott who runs it with some of her kids Jon, Grayson, and April.
